I couldn't figure this out.

I have Maschine V1
Proteus 2000
Planet Phat

and a Motu Midi Time Piece USB

The usb must not be working correctly.

I wanted to be able to have the Maschine play sounds form the proteus and or the plant phat separately.

Maschine goes to MIDI In on Timpiece

Proteus connected from Midi Out (1) on Timepiece To Midi In Of Proteus
Planet Phat connected from Midi Out (2) on Timepiece To Midi In Of Planet Phat.

Tried Midi OX and righ now I can play them individually if I hook them up directly. I also can only get one to play wiht the timepiece hooked up. I have the USB version but my machine - WIndows 7 64 bit is not seeing it. Tried to configure from the front of the unit but no luck either.

Hi
To set this up
Maschine -> TimePiece -> Midi Ox -> P2k
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . \-> Phat

This will give you both played at the same time if they are on the same Midi channel.

You can split them up by either setting up a data filter in MidiOx or changing things on the synth modules.

To play them separately you could set them up to receive on different channels and swap the output Midi channel on the Maschine.

Or you can split them by getting them to respond to a different velocity range.

Or you can split them by the note range they respond to.

Hello. I think I have a similar question: I have two midi controllers that I would like to assign to two different midi channels so that they can play different vst instruments in Cubase. (I have a really old version of Cubase where it is not possible make those midi assignments.)

I have tried assigning one controller to midi channel 1, and another to midi channel 2, but I must be doing something wrong because all the midi data goes to channel one.

Also, in the help file it gives a routing option in the diagram which shows the midi controller going to MIDI-OS which then goes into the sequencer. I was not able to have my sequencer show up as a routing option, or have MIDI-OS show up as a option to be routed to.

I am running Windows 7.

If you have any suggestions I would appreciate it.

Ctrl 1 (channel 1) -> Cubase -> VST 1
Ctrl 2 (channel 2)-> Cubase -> VST 2

When you say "all the midi data goes to channel one" is this what you are seeing in MidiOx? eg B0 cc vv and B1 cc vv
What controllers are you using?

If it is a Cubase problem.....

Are you trying to record with the 2 ctrls at the same time?
In many older DAWs you need to need to set it for Multi recording

If you are just playing, you need to be able to set the MidiThru or MidiEcho, whatever it is called, to on on both tracks. Some older DAWs couldn't do this.

If your Ctrls are already outputting on different channels there is not much Midiox can do .
