Title: Mapping computer keyboard to send note 126

I need to send a single note on command to a dmx hardware controller in order to toggle blackout.

My plan is to map a single key to do this.  Then program a usb footswitch to send that key.  The midiox should then send the midi note on for note 126  each time i step on the switch, toggling blackout on and off.

I have read a few other posts about keyboard mapping and yoke, etc.
I am somewhat confused.

Hi
I'm not sure why you don't just program your USB foot switch to send Note on 126  to your lighting controller?

I am also somewhat confused.

All the best

The USB footswitch is a simple switch that does computer keyboard keys only.  It knows nothing about midi.

So you need a QWERTY key to Midi?
Normally MidiOx converts one type of Midi message to a different Midi essage.

Perhaps you can say what make and model of the foot switch is so I can look it up.

If it is QWERTY key to Midi you need then you would be better off using the free Bome Midi Translator
http://www.bome.com/products/miditranslator/overview/classic

It will do QWERTY to Midi.

If this is not what you want perhaps you can explain in detail what you want to do (What midi message changed to what midi message).

All the best
Royce

Thanks. I have given up on this project.  Its a mystery to my why all the DMX manufacturers use midi note-on messages to change scenes while the rest of the midi manufacturers use midi program change messages?
