Title: Can't map input to output
Post by Steven_Brown on Jan 15th, 2017, 10:59pm
What I'm trying to do with MIDI-OX in Windows 10, 64-bit, is map MIDI sustain pedal (controller 64) to MIDI sostenuto pedal (controller 66), but I can't get any MIDI events to appear in the Output Monitor window. I can't even get any NOTE ON event to appear in the Output Monitor window. On the chance it was mapping data to the output but not displaying it, I launched a second instance of MIDI-OX, and connected its input through loopMIDI to the output of the first instance, but nothing displays in the Input Monitor window of the second instance.

I've linked a screen shot of the Define Mapping dialog box, in which I map any NOTE ON event to the output with the same values as the input, and in its parent dialog box, I checked the box to turn on the map after clicking OK.

A second screen shot shows data appearing in the Input Monitor window, but nothing appearing in the Output Monitor window.

I tried Windows "Troubleshoot Compatibility" feature, but that did not solve the problem with the settings used for Windows 7 and for Windows XP. Has anyone got mapping to work on a Windows 10, 64-bit system?

A couple of quick things.
You need to have the View / Port Routings window open and drag your Midi input port  to an output port so there is a line joining them.
Assuming you have done this, then it is likely that the Output port is stopped. Right click in the Monitor - Output window and click Start Display.

Finally make sure the "Turn Map On (after OK)" is checked on the Data Map window (titled "Translation Map")

Hope this helps

But "MIDI-OX Event Port" is already joined to the output port by a line in the Port Routings window.  I assume "MIDI-OX Event Port" is the output of the mapping function. Joining the input port to the output port would add a second connection to the output port, and I would expect that would bypass the mapping function. I don't want to just pass the data through but to modify the sustain pedal MIDI message.

Working fine on Win7 by assigning the data map in the 66 MIDI Port Routing:

That works, Sonus. Thank you.
