Hi, i recently got my hands on a casio dh-200 digital horn and am currently trying to get it to control a jv-1010 with it. In standalone mode i can play a note and vary the volume by air pressure variation. To make this work with the jv1010 i used midi-ox's data mapping to map the channel-aftertouch from the casio to cc7 (also tried cc11). It works only partly. while i can lower the volume while playing a note i cannot raise it beyond the initial volume value value, meaning i cannot for example start playing a note very quietly and raise the volume to a higher level.

Is there a way to work around this?

I've been looking into this more, there seems to be a connection to the velocity value set with each note-on.

if the velocity is set to for example 40 then the volume i can alter using cc7 wont ever be more than 40 but i can go down to 0.

is this device specific? i see the same behaviour when i try it with the roland xv vst.

On the other hand, i can control the TecRecorder VST perfectly fine when i use the dh-100 directly without any transformations and selecting learn cc on the volume knob.

Hi

The way the patch is set up has a big bearing on what happens with a breath controller (I use a Yamaha WX5).
Try this...
1) Have a look at the range that the horn it putting out in MidiOx. It should go from a low number near 1 to a max of 127 (or 7F in hexadecimal)
2) Turn off any velocity settings in the patch you are using so the max volume will be set up in the JV for any note and you will control the volume exclusively with CC7
You might like to use an editor like this https://sourceforge.net/projects/jv-patched-jv-xp/ tp make it easier.

Thank you Breath! I tried it immediately with the vst where changing the patches is easier and it worked right away! I will rewire my midi setup so i can change the patches on the hw jv1010
