Title: Remaping CC controles in old ProjectMix
Post by Waxko on Apr 30th, 2025, 2:40pm
Hi,
I have an old Projectmix surface control working propertly so far. The large faders are fine to handle the CC controls. The #4 faders has the CC 11 -Expresion. So I would like to asign to #3 fader the CC1 - Modulation.
I am able to do with Option/Data Mapping, I get to change the Cc control to CC1. But I don't know how remain the new CC control.
There is any way to fix the new CC1 to #3 fader??
Thanks in advance

Hi
I'm not quite sure what you are asking, so lets see how much I get correct.
Fader #4 puts out CC11
In MidiOx you have used a datamap to change  CC11 to CC01

I guessing that you want to have the CC11 as well as the CC1? if so..
Open the datamap (open your datamap file if you need to) and go to the line that has the CC11 to CC1 and doubleclick to open the Define Mapping dialog.

On the left side of the 'When Input matches' box you will see "Pass Original value on (Clone)" click to check that and if you don't have any lines following it MidiOx will now output the CC11 and the CC1 messages.

Feel free to post again if I have missed what you were asking.

All the best
Royce

Hi Royce,
Thanks for your answer. I'm afraid I didn't explain right. I will try to do better.
I have no issue with #4 fader with CC11 - Expresion. My issue is with the previous #3fader and I would like to change the current CC0 - Pan, to CC01 - Modulation.
Using Options/data Mapping, I get it but the ProjectMix Unit doesn't remain the new CC01 control to #3 fader after MIDI-OX is off it comes back to the defect value CC10.
So my issue is how I can remain the new CC01 permanently after reassign the #3fader to CC01 - Modulation.
Hope I explain better now
Thanks again
Jorge

Hi Jorge
let me try again...
I guess ProjectMix in the M-Audio piece of gear.

..."the previous #3fader and I would like to change the current CC0 - Pan, to CC01 - Modulation. "
CC00 is a reserved type for switching patch banks, but can be used for anything.
CC10 is Pan so I am a bit confused.
..or are you talking about another control above Fader (volume) #3 that ios outputing CC00?

Is the problem that when you close MidiOx the Datamap stops functioning?
MidiOx must be running all the time you want the datamap to function.

Perhaps you need to tell me the whole picture of what you are trying to do, but I'll guess again  this time...

ProjectMix -> MidiOx with CC00 to CC01 -> DAW.

You will need loopMidi (free) to be installed.
Set up at least one loopMidi cable "loop1in".

You must pass your Midi input stream from the ProjectMix into MidiOx then connect it to a loopMidi driver and then have the  loopMidi as your DAW  Midi input.

Start your DAW and make the control Midi In to be loop1In.

Lets call your datamap  ProjectMixMap1.oxm when you saved it. You need to have saved it.

Start MidiOx
Setup loopMidi's "loop1In" in Options/Midi Devices as an output (at this point don't selected it as and MIDI input )
Close that window.

Open the Port Routing window if it's not already open..
You should see loop1In on the right side as an output
Drag connect ProjectMix Midi In on the left side to loop1In on the right side.

Click on the small box in the middle of the line running from ProjectMix to loop1In and on the new dialog select the datamap ProjectMixMap1.oxm
Move Fader#3 to see that it is being sent to your DAW.

So the stream should now be connected...
Project MidiIn -> MidiOx -> datamap -> loop1In
Move the ProjectMix control and the MidiOx Input Monitor should show CC00 comming in and the Output Monitor should show CC01 going out.
The DAW should be receiving CC01

IF you need more mappings for other ProjectMix controls you can just add lines in ProjectMixMap1.oxm

If I have screwed up again, lay out the whole of what you are trying to achieve and I'll try again.

All the best
Royce
