Title: Digital Sampled Theatre Organ Post by Dpeden on Nov 17th, 2003, 11:38pm Hello Forum, I have a beautiful 3 manual WurliTzer pipe organ full-sized copy console built about 20 years ago and it is interfaced to an analog tone generating system. Not bad for it's day, but sad sounding today! I added Midi to manuals and pedals and two digital sound recording modules for the toy counter sounds like Gong,Train Whistle, Tarzan's Yell, Thunder, etc. I want to totally digitize the sound generating system using Midi and Digital Sound Samplers. As I have surfed the Internet searching for the right software system I have seen MidiOx mentioned many times and have signed on! Any suggestions for software? Has anyone accomplished a similar project? Any comments are appreciated. Organthusiastically Yours, Dean Peden 8) peden2@juno.com |

Title: Re: Digital Sampled Theatre Organ Post by jim_henry on Mar 18th, 2004, 9:08pm The challenge in emulating a pipe organ with MIDI is that a Note On message to the output device (pipes or synthesizer) should depend on both a Note On message from the input device (keyboard) and a stop tab. Stop tabs aren't implemented in standard MIDI. I am writing a program called the Miditzer that provides stop tabs and the logic to combine them with MIDI keyboard input to produce MIDI output. Details can be found at www.miditheatreorgan.com jOrgan is a Java program that performs a similar function. jOrgan is more directed to configurability while the Miditzer is more directed to a high degree of accuracy in modeling the behavior of a Wurlitzer theatre organ.
