If the MIDI in and out ports are showing up, then you've got whatever drivers you need.

So, can you see the MIDI In port listed?

Next, check you've got the cabling right: you should have a cable running from the "MIDI Out" port on the keyboard to the "MIDI In" port on the game-port cable.

Is your wiring correct?

Any application that takes MIDI input should list the MIDI ports so you can pick one.

In MIDI Ox, Options->MIDI Devices opens a dialog box with a list of "MIDI Inputs".

You can also go into Device Manager and look under "Sound, video and game controllers".

Unfortunately, I've never used a game port for MIDI (and my current machine doesn't have one), so I can't say what it should look like.  You may have to go into each listed device (highlight it, press Enter) and look at the "Properties" tab of the properties dialog: there should be an entry under "MIDI Devices and Instruments".

Have a look at this (http://www.evolution.co.uk/support/faq/Gameport_Connection_problem.htm) - from Evolution's tech support but should apply equally here.

I have a fundamental midi problem: My system is showing no midi inour port at all though my on board soiund card is full duplex for audio and should, I believe, run midi in and out.  I read the Evolution answers P Jones suggested -- good advice -- but I'm running XP Home and it has no bios. I suspect I solve my problem by enabling MPU-401 or UART but the windows help pages make little or no mention of this at all.

HELP!!!

Hey Guys,
