Title: MIDI_Bar Error Message
Post by Barry_Wilkinson on Jan 23rd, 2006, 5:04am
I have just recently installed MIDI_Ox on my XP Computer.

When using MIDI Ox, and using the EMUKx MIDI port (9000) for both input and output, I can both send and receive MIDI data from an external keyboard (when I use the computer keyboard as an input - to output MIDI data)

However, when attempting to output a MIDI file from the MIDI_Bar to the same port!!! an error message appears;

There are no MIDI devices installed on the system.  To install ........ etc.

Seeing that the port obviously works, sending the computer keyboard generated information, why doesn't the MIDI_Bar output work through the same port??

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,
Barry Wilkinson

MIDI Bar uses the Windows MCI interface to connect to and PlayBack a MIDI Sequence.  It is possible that your MCI Sequencer codec is not installed or misconfigured.

Dear Jamie O'Connel.

Thank you for your reply!

Unfortunately, I cannot find any reference to an MCI device on my Computer, or in the Control Panel.  What next??

Best regards,

Barry Wilkinson.

I see it under Control Panel | Sounds and Audio Devices [Hardware] | Media Control Devices  [Properties] [Properties] mciseq.dll.  If that's not there, I don't know of a way to get it other than a re-install of Windows, although there may be other methods.

Dear Jamie O'Connel

Many thanks for your persistence!

I found the .dll file OK, but is my face red!  It really helps when you tell the MIDI Bar what port to use!!!!

Unfortunately, I assumed that MIDI Bar was a subset of MIDI Ox - wrong again!

End of problem - best regards,

Barry Wilkinson.
