I found the book Maximum MIDI on harmony central. Did anybody know this book and tell me if it is very usefull for a beginner in C?.

It's a pretty good book (and available from our online store here), but I'm not sure I'd recommend it for beginners in programming.  It uses C++, and comes with very usable class libraries for doing MFC or SDK MIDI apps.  The DLL's are fully thunked, and can be used with either NT or 9x Windows.

I bought because I am interested. But it leaves too many questions. It mainly features an API that is topped on the windows API. Ok, this is a good way of showing a way of an implementation of the windows API to MIDI. But I'd rather learn more details on the win API than on the implementation.

I have to admit that I am a beginner in C++/Windows programming, although I am a professional developer...

Jamie, may I ask you some questions about MIDI programming?
