Title: Yamaha QY70 Data Filer
Post by IGWright on Mar 31st, 2002, 1:58am
Hi,

Great program! I believe I have the MIDI-OX hooked up correctly but I am having trouble with one item in my chain. I have a Yamaha hand-held sequencer, the QY70. It has a Sys Ex dump program called the Data Filer. For some reason I cannot get the Data filer to function when it is going through the MIDI-OX. I was able to make it work with Hubi's Loopback, but I cannot get Loopback to load into Windows XP Pro, thus the switch the MIDI-OX. Tell me what you think.

All the best,

Ian

I am a bit confused.  Hubi's Loopback is a virtual MIDI device (like MIDI Yoke).  MIDI-OX is an application.  Are you actually referring to MIDI Yoke?  It is not clear that you are because I don't see why you'd need any virtual driver for the system you describe.  The QY70 attaches to the PC directly through a hardware MIDI interface.  I would assume that the Data Filer would attach directly to the hardware MIDI interface as well?  Am I missing something?

Thank-you for the reply. I am able to use MIDI-Yoke for everything but the QY70 and it's Data Filer. The QY70 uses a proprietary host cable that connects to the Serial Port. It employs a software driver. I am able to use MIDI-Yoke alone for all my needs execpt this driver. Perhaps there is a technique I am not aware of, but what I am doing now is using MIDI-OX to connect the driver to the various MIDI-Yoke connections. Tell me what you think.

All the best,

Ian

Thanks.  I understand better what you're trying to accomplish. MIDI Yoke NT should be able to pass the SysEx data along without any trouble.  Check your MIDI-OX config against the FAQ: SysEx Config (http://www.midiox.com/mfaq.htm#whyNoSysEx)

You could also try to use the MIDI-OX SysEx view to verify sending and reception, or even in place of the filer program.
