Hi. I am new to MidiOX but read through the forum prior to this post.

I am dumping the factory presets to my M1 and after sending, the M1 gets funky and I need to reboot it. Once that is done, I only get the first three or four patches.

I tried the buffers and delay settings suggested within this forum. No luck.

Wierd thing is, with MidiOX and my M1 running, the M1 behaves irradically, not allowing me to step throiugh patches. Also, the patch names are garbled...I tried two or three different syx files...same thing.

Last point. I downloaded a bunch of files for the M1 and there was no file extensions. Am I supposed to rename these to syx?

All help much appreciated.

There are a couple of possibilities: the factory preset file might be corrupted, or more likely, there may be a problem with your MIDI interface's SysEx transfer. In my opinion, it's unfortunate that most MIDI interfaces now use USB: it's passable for normal MIDI messages, but I've seen many interfaces (and drivers) choke when handed SysEx information.

You can check the contents of the Factory Preset .SYX by Load File... into the MIDI-OX SysEx view. Make sure that each message is wrapped in "F0 ... F7", and that there are no extraneous bytes outside of those messages. That doesn't guarantee non-corruption, but it may help.

Do you mean just with MIDI-OX running? Or while dumping patches, or...? If you mean after dumping patches, that would indicate a MIDI interface/driver problem. Also, absolutely, make sure that you have "[x] Delay after F7 checked".

Try adding a .SYX extension and load them into the Sysx View and look at them. Does each message start with "F0" and end with "F7"? If so, you've got a raw .SYX file.
