Title: mf2t, note off??
Post by dewdman42 on Jun 22nd, 2004, 2:23am
I am trying to use mf2t to create a text file version of a midi file so that I can process it with AWK.  However, no note-off events are coming into the text file.  Am I doing someting wrong, is this a bug in mf2t or perhaps are there some limitations about midifile format or something that would make it not work with this program?

The log file only tracks events going through the Output Monitor (post mapping), so you need both an input and an output MIDI driver hooked up and data routed from input to output.

I'm a little confused what you mean.  I am using the mf2t command line tool that I got from your site, which takes a standard midi file and converts it into text.  Theoretically this should include both note on and note off events...or some other way to indicate the duration of notes.  But the text output I am getting does not include note offs or durations...

??

My error. I thought you were referring to converting a MIDI-OX log into MIDI File using T2MF.

I did not write MF2T or T2MF (we only have a link to the file), but I have verified they will work with every standard MIDI file I have looked at.  Do you hear note events when you play the MIDI file?
