Title: Layla 24 Laptop Issues Post by unrelatedrecipe on Feb 7th, 2005, 11:19pm When I go to Options -> MIDI Devices... and select 1) Layla24 MIDI then click OK I get "Layla24 MIDI: Undefined external error." I'm trying to route MIDI notes being sent to my computers built-in general MIDI to an external synth and figure opening my soundcard's MIDI output would probably help out in this endeavor... Any help would be appreciated. |

Title: Re: Layla 24 Laptop Issues Post by Peter L Jones on Feb 8th, 2005, 6:25am The notes must be being sent to your built-in GM synth from somewhere. You don't need MIDI OX to change where they're being sent from. You need to change the program that's sending. In that program, open the right output. If you want to send to both the built-in GM synth and an external connection, then you'll need to use MIDI Yoke (in addition to MIDI OX). You change the program that's sending the MIDI notes to send to MIDI Yoke, then use MIDI OX to pass that on to the two outputs (built-in GM and external). It sounds like you've already got the Layla MIDI port in use when you try to open it in MIDI OX. Don't do that. ;-) |

Title: Re: Layla 24 Laptop Issues Post by unrelatedrecipe on Feb 8th, 2005, 8:44am the program isn't configurable. it ONLY sends to the 7th general MIDI instrument. convenient, huh? :) |

Title: Re: Layla 24 Laptop Issues Post by unrelatedrecipe on Feb 8th, 2005, 10:22am Oh, and one more thing... I was messing around last night with the program and somehow I got it to trigger a single note from the external synth, but I have no idea how. |

I don't know what you mean. Do you mean it sends a Program Change #7 message? Or do you mean it sends all data on Channel 7? Or something else? And how does that affect what MIDI port you open? |
