Title: Load / Organize Individual Patches? Post by nils on Feb 8th, 2005, 5:05pm Greetings, I am brand new - first post - haven't even downloaded midiox yet, but I have a couple of questions. I am considering the purchase of a Novation X-station, which does not currently have a patch librarian. It is very easy to create new patches on the X-station, but each new patch must replace an exisitng patch in the X-station bank. I understand that I can bulk dump all of my pre-set patches with midiox, but is it possible to load individual patches or must I bulk load and replace an entire bank? Also, as I accumulate custom patches that I have created, can I organize them into custom banks by choosing from my available patches? Thanks for your help! |

Title: Re: Load / Organize Individual Patches? Post by Jamie OConnell on Feb 17th, 2005, 1:53pm MIDI-OX is not a patch librarian, and can only perform bulk sends and receives. It can use a finer granularity only when the sending device can do it. For example, if the Synth has the ability to dump a single patch, MIDI-OX will receive a single patch. It just saves and loads the raw SysEx data, and has no knowledge of what is contained in it. |

Title: Re: Load / Organize Individual Patches? Post by nils on Feb 19th, 2005, 12:46am Jamie - Thanks for your response. I now have the X-station, which will send or load individual patches as well as bulk dump banks. I believe that I have successfully sent a patch file to MIDI-OX and saved it. I used the sysex view and did a "receive manual dump", then saved the data. However, I have not been able to send from MIDI-OX to the X-station. I get no activity in the Output monitor, except for the Opened midi input and opened midi output messages when I first start MIDI-OX. The only activy is see is in the input window, as when doing the manual receive or pressing keys. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you much, Nils |

Title: Re: Load / Organize Individual Patches? Post by Jamie OConnell on Feb 19th, 2005, 2:27am Open MIDI-OX and choose View | Port Routings... Drag a connection between the input and output ports if necessary. Ensure that Options | Pass SysEx is checked (select it if it isn't). |
