Title: MidiOX don't receive MIDI after a while Post by number9 on Mar 3rd, 2005, 10:57am I'm running MIDI OX to send MIDI to 2 different programs which run audio on low latency ASIO drivers (Bidule and Mobius) via MidiYoke The only MIDI messages I sent is programchanges that are translated in NotenOns and Offs, some with a slight delay (all just for controlling functions). In the Portrouting I have only enabled 1 channel for each MIDI Yoke Output. Windows Classic Desktop is enabled. My system is RME Multiface (audio and MIDI) 2Ghz P4m, 845 chipset, 1Gig RAM. I use W2k and XP. Sometimes the system plays fine for hours, sometimes after a few minutes MIDI OX does not recieve MIDI anymore (the RME card still displays MIDI input). I can't say for sure but I think it is worse in XP (where I run more background services then in 2K). I never had the problem with MIDI OX 6 but I would like to use the delay feature of 7. Does low latency audio effect MIDI? or what can be the problem? thankyou, number9 |

Title: Re: MidiOX don't receive MIDI after a while Post by ml on Mar 7th, 2005, 4:32pm Have you had any cpu spikes right before the problem occurs. It may be that you are pushing the system too much (not with midiOX, but with other software running at the same time) |

Title: Re: MidiOX don't receive MIDI after a while Post by number9 on Mar 7th, 2005, 5:58pm thanks for the reply, no the system is constantly running at about 55% cpu. when the problem occurs there is also a delay. the MIDI in LED of the RME is flashing right in time when I press a button on the controller. after a few seconds the input light flashes in MIDI OX and again after a few seconds the output light flashes but no MIDI gets to the application anymore, when I close MIDI OX at this point it will close, when I continue to send messages it won't close anymore. After reopen the first message is received by MIDI OX in time (in and out light flashes) but is not sent to the application. from the second message it is as described above. there are similar problems reported in the MIDI Yoke forum, but what makes me wonder is that there is no MIDI Yoke between the hardware input and MIDI OX (RME MIDI in is the only input port in MIDI OX, MIDI Yoke 1 & 2 are the only outputs, if I choose only one MIDI Yoke output it's the same). I tried to reproduce it in W2k but the last two days it worked fine there. I play live with W2K, I only use XP for testing and usual computer stuff (a firewall is running), so I can live with it. Anyway maybe you'd like to find the problem. number9 |
