Title: Updating ION software via Midiox Post by Frankencam on Sep 1st, 2005, 1:57pm Hello. I'm a noob here, but thought I'd post about this. Might help some - might not. I have an Alesis ION that I updated the software on via Midiox (Alesis recommended Midiox). The prob I was having is that Midiox was only able to send 3 - 4% of the file & then it would stop with an !, saying "Midiox Output: Sending data to the device. Wait until finnshed & then try again". Then the send would stop. After about 20 minutes on the phone with Alesis, we figured out that we had 2 increase the Midiox buffer size (under 'Options - Configure Buffers') by continually doubling it until it finally completed the send. The default buffer settings in Midiox are Size: 256 Bytes / Number: 16. I had to increase the size to 16396 & the number to 64 but it finally worked. Hope this helps anybody. Frankencam |

Title: Re: Updating ION software via Midiox Post by Jamie OConnell on Sep 2nd, 2005, 4:53pm Another approach is to add or increase delays between buffers. MIDI-OX can sometimes send data too quickly for external MIDI devices. Try increasing delays in SysEx View SysEx | Configure... : [x] Delay after F7 [120] Milliseconds The danger of using very many large buffers is that this memory must be allocated from a non-paged memory pool, which is limited in Windows. |
