Title: No data in SysEx view!
Post by chingeling on Nov 4th, 2005, 10:56am
I have a strange problem when using the SysEx View and Scratchpad window.

I hook up my midi-device, "Pass sysex" is active, I open the sysex window and select "Receive manual dump". Then I start the dump on my midi-device. I can see all the sysex data being printed in my input monitor, but the SysEx window does not receive any bytes!

I've successfully done midi-dumps numerous times, but now all of a sudden I get nothing. Probably due to some configuring I've done, but I can't figure it out.

I've tried uninstalling MidiOx and deleting all configuration files, and then done a clean install - same problem. What am I missing?

You have to keep the Manual Dump dialog open until all the data arrives.  If you're doing that and still nothing arrives, that would be very strange indeed.  Is the input port attached to the output port in the Routing View?

Thanks for your quick reply. I think I've figured out what is wrong, the midi-data sent from the device seems to get corrupted somewhere. The Sysex header is not recognized and the entire sysex dump is just treated like regular data and shown in the input monitor.

I've dumped data from 4 of my other devices with no problems (and no configuration changes), so I'm sure this is not a configuration problem or a MidiOx problem.

Do you receive the 'F0' at all? If not, that is the problem. If so, perhaps some other MIDI status (any value > 127 (7F)) is breaking the SysEx.
