I'm a newbie struggling to understand. I have a "silent" keyboard hooked via a Midisport Uno USB to XP, on a machine with integrated audio. Midiox shows it's properly receiving and transmitting keys. Is there any way to have it play with one of the included midi players, like Windows Media Player? Since there's now midi coming in, and midi can play, can Midiox act as the connector between them???

Media Player will only play MIDI files, but you may have the "Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth" appear as a driver in the MIDI-OX Output port list. That should sound and play back notes from your controller.

I do indeed have the MS wavetable; but how do I tell it to play the midi input from the Midisport???

Your MidiSport provides MIDI Inputs on the PC, and the MS Wavetable provides MIDI Outputs, right? You need an application - such as MIDI OX - that reads MIDI Input and writes it straight to MIDI Output. So, load up MIDI OX, dive into Options->MIDI Devices, make sure the check box "Automatically attach...." at the bottom is on, then select your Output first, followed by your Input. Then just click "OK" and you're done.

You'll get terrible latency on the MSGSWavetable synth, though. If your soundcard has ASIO drivers, get sfz (http://www.rgcaudio.com/sfz.htm) and a good GM/GS soundfont. (You won't need MIDI OX, as sfz is an application that reads MIDI Input and outputs audio.)
