Title: Loading sysex patches to a microKORG?
Post by allochthon on Dec 9th, 2013, 4:19pm
I have some syx patches that I really want to load onto the microKORG but am finding the process to be far more complicated than I expected.

I have tried MIDI-OX, SysExLibrarian, Sysxplorer and none of them will load the syx files.

I closely followed the the instructions found here:

http://www.korg.co.uk/downloads/m1/support/SysExMIDIOX.pdf

When I get to the final step (Send Sysex) nothing happens. Zilch.

I am using the following setup:

-HP Envy running Windows 7
-Steinberg UR22 with MIDI in and out
-microKORG

Please help!!

1)Setup you Midi devices Options/Midi Devices (as in pdf)
2)Open the Midi Port Routing window if it isn't already open View/Port Routings... and the window marked Monitor -  Output also needs to be visible.
3) Connect the Midi-Ox Event port in the Routing window to your Midi interface Output Port that has the Korg attached by left click and drag from one icon to the other.
4) Options/ Pass Sysex. If it is already ticked, un-select it and then re-select it. There seems to be a bug there on my machine, don't know why but that fixes it.
5) View/ SysEx... - a new SysEx window will open
6) On the SysEx window File/Send Sysex File. Select the sysex file and press OK.

The data in the sysex file should appear in the Output - Monitor window.

If you get a message something like "Midi Output not available ... " then de-select and re-select Pass Sysex and try to send the file again.

All the best
Royce

I apologize for resurrecting a very old thread, but I followed the instructions above.  I was able to get a Sysex file to load on my Microkorg successfully and was able to save the patch.

However, I have selected the next Program bank (A12) and am trying to send another Sysex file with the exact same method, and while MIDI-OX shows that the Sysex file is sending, both through the transfer pop-up as well as in the Output monitor, the patch doesn't seem to have transfered to the Mircokorg when I try to play it.

I have tried to enable System Exclusive again on the Microkorg to see if that worked, but nothing.  Please help.

i figured it out.  Just a couple non-working sysex files.  Others work fine.
