Title: Waldorf Streichfett
Post by alcolmx on Nov 27th, 2014, 10:21am
Hey everyone. I'm trying to reload the factory sound bank for Waldorf's Streichfett and I'm not having much luck. It's a .mid file, so I load it into MIDIBar and play it. The Streichfett plays a single note, and I assume it's done. The sounds have changed on the Streichfett, but they're not the factory sounds (duplicates of many sounds, sounds not in the correct memory locations, etc.). A few times I've tried and there seems to be some sort of error because a note (not from the Streichfett) plays repeatedly and seems to be stuck. I have to shut down MIDIBar to have it stop. Weird thing is, when this happens, the sounds are closer to the original sound bank!?! Close... but not the same. Any advice? Help would be greatly appreciated!

PS: I'm connecting the Streichfett to my computer via USB.

Does it make sense that the .mid file supplied by Waldorf would contain a single note?

I can't see much point in a single note unless you send, say, patch data as sysex and the note is to show what the new patch sounds like.

If you haven't already, install MidiYoke and select MidiYoke1 as a device in Options/Midi Devices

Set the output of MidiBar to MidiYoke1.
You should now be able to see the data that MidiBar is sending.

Check in the Options menu to make sure the 'Pass SysEx' is selected.

I have had trouble with 'Pass SysEx' in the past and it was fixed by deselecting then selecting it again

A Midi file with just one note will usually be very small.
How big is the file ?

The MidiBar player will normally send the sysex in a Midi file or give you a warning what the problem is.

The file is only 457 bytes.
I'm gonna give MidiYoke a shot. Thanks for the tip.

I would think that that is too big for just one note.
Best of luck with MidiYoke, but did you turn on Options /Pass SysEx.. ?

Exactly the same problem here.
I also tried sending the file to the Streichfett through Sysex Librarian on my Mac. You can change the playback speed with that program but the result is still not the factory presets. Some sounds are duplicates and they're definitely not like they were when I bought the synth. I've accidentally overwritten some of the factory presets and I really want those back. Waldorf support is terrible!!!
