Title: How to share a midi interface

I have a situation where I use two different midi interfaces with two different software editing programs.

Software 1 connects to my Kemper profiling amp via one midi interface using the midi in and out on that interface.
It edits patches on the Kemper.

Software 2 connects to my Behringer FCB1010 via a different midi interface.
It receives and sends .syx patch dumps to the FCB1010.

The FCB1010 controls the Kemper by changing patches and expression pedals.

The Kemper editing software also controls the Kemper.

My brain is swimming trying to figure out how to do both things without swapping midi cables to the Kemper.

I added a diagram on the two different functions
It looks to me like The outs from the FCB1010 and the 4i40 interface have to merge?

Is there a way with Midi-Ox to do what I want to do?

So...
1. the FCB editor changes the FCB
2. I am guessing you are using the THRU to get patch data from the FCB to the FCB editor
3. you are using the FCB to control the Amp
4. you are also changing the Amp with the Amp Editor
5. you want to get (I guess) patch data from the Amp to the Amp editor

MidiOx can merge Midi data so...
1. Amp gets data from BOTH the FCB and Amp Editor (Merge)
2. FCB gets data from FCB Editor (No merge)
3. FCB Editor gets data from FCB (No merge)
4. Amp Editor gets data from Amp (No merge)

Install MidiYoke (get it where you got MidiOx) or use loopMidi if you have it already installed.
Don't use your interface's THRU

Cable the In and Out of the FCB to the Out and In of the Echo
Cable the In and Out of the Amp to the Out and In of the 4i4o as you have

FCB Editor
- Midi In from the Echo
- Midi Out to the Echo - this is also connected and merged in MidiOx

Amp Editor
- Midi In from the 4i40
- Midi Out to MidiYoke1 - this is a software Midi cable so the data can be grabbed by MidiOx, merged and sent to 4i4o

MidiOx - Set up the merge
Options \ Midi Devices select MidiYoke1 In and Out
Now you want to merge the Amp Editor Out and FCB output into the Amp
In the Midi Port Routings window connect MidiYoke1(left side) to 4i40 Out (right side) - this is the stuff coming from the Amp editor
In the Midi Port Routings window connect Echo In (left side) to 4i40 Out (right side) - this is the stuff coming from the FCB

If you get error messages it may be because the Echo In is trying to connect to both the FCB editor and MidiOx and there is a Echo driver limitation.
This can be fixed in MidiOx, but most drivers these days a Multi client and should be OK.
Post a message if it is a problem.

The FCB1010 and the Kemper software can both control the Kemper now :)

There is only one issue:
The FCB1010 editing software needs to be able to get a SYSEX dump from the FCB. It says it received the SYSEX message, but then it says that it has an incorrect header.
see my screen shot below.

I have Pass SysEx checked in the MidiOx options menu

I can send and receive just fine with the Midi interface and no virtual port in the chain.

HI

I am a bit confused. I assumed "Echo Midi Interface" was an Midi interface brand I have not heard of.
So you are using a Midisport Uno and a Midisport 4x4, yes ?

Now to the FCB1010 Editing software. Is it Mountain Utilities or Control Centre or Ed Dixon's .... etc ?
Does the FCB1010 have the Behringer rom (factory rom never removed), UNO rom or the Eureka rom ..?

Can you show me the sysex coming in from the FCB ?

Sorry, a bit confusing from my first post :)

I returned the new 4i4o interface to Amazon because it was giving me memory error messages when Midi-Ox was trying to access it

I had a MidiSport uno interface laying around that I used in it's place and it is working fine with the kemper

The other interface is a Mia Sound card with Midi in's and Out's
I use that one on the FCB1010.

I have it all working with a virtual port and Midi-Ox now
The Kemper software and the FCB can both control the Kemper now

To get .syx dumps to and from the FCB, I just turn off Midi-Ox and it works fine.

No big deal, I can live with that because I don't have to do that very often.

The FCB has the Uno stomp box chip
The FCB editor I use the the Ripwerx java based editor
I have Ed's software, but I like the Ripwerx one better

Thanks for all your help
