Title: Yamaha YPT210 midi issue. Active sensing??
Post by Anton_Mac on Jun 22nd, 2020, 3:58pm
Hi everyone. I recently bought a Yamaha YPT210 as i wanted a keyboard with MIDI to help me learn to play some MIDI files on the keyboard. I bought a generic MIDI>USB adapter, and hoped that would be it done, but im having an issue. The PC can output to the keyboard perfectly, and i can see the "note on" and "note off" in the monitor, but when using the keyboard it shows the "note on" but never a "note off". i have been told that this might be something to do with "active sensing", and the keyboard not getting a signal in return so not playing any more notes (until it appears to time out after 5 seconds or so, then will play 1 more note). ive played with the filters, but i guess those are exactly that, filters, so this doesnt disable the active sensing which is potentially causing the issue. Does anyone have any idea of how i might make the keyboard and laptop communicate properly, otherwise im going to have to sell this keyboard and buy another which is a bit of a pain.

Thanks, any ideas are very welcome.

Hi,

If your interface is like ...

Then sadly I have bought one and have had many of these given to me and ALL have been troublesome.
This is what you need to get rid of and get a Midi interface from a well know maker. Yamaha, Roland, Behringer, Korg, M-Audio (Midisport) etc.
Usually anything that comes with its own driver (ie CD or downloaded and has to be installed) and not the Microsoft Class Compliant divers that come with Windows.

I feel sure that the Yamaha keyboard is fine.

I have noticed recently that the Chinese makers are repackaging the interface into a new case, so beware.

I have had one with the 5 second delay, just like yours. I have even opened others to find missing parts (they were never going to work).

This is one of the most common problems we answer here at the MidiOx forum.

Sorry
Royce

Hi. I found an old thread on another site with the same issue on this keyboard, so I just bought a YPT340 which has USB MIDI. Hopefully that's it all sorted.

Thanks for replying. I'll sell the 210 with a clear conscience.
