Title: Two suggestions, easy and not so easy... Post by Rere on Apr 28th, 2002, 4:15pm Hello: Well...I was thinking about two things that I'd love to see implemented in Midiox in the future. The first: (I've already mentioned it some time ago), a loop feature in Midibar. With this option to play the midi file in a loop, this little app would be MUCH useful for testing purposes. The second: I use Midiox extensively as a mapping utility for my midi guitar and keyboard and also use Sonar. I've found that there are a lot of incredible useful midi plugins available for Sonar (by Ntonix and others) that does an enhanced and realtime GUI's version, of the things you can do, albeit; with a lot more work in Midiox. (Velocity compression with graphs, drum notes editing, chords, etc..) So I began to think if it would be posible for you to extend the functionality of Midiox by supporting these midi plugins specification to process live midi data streams. I know it is not an easy and maybe expensive (rights and patents) task but I'm not asking them for free. Maybe you could do a "Pro" (ie: paid) version of Midiox with this and posibly more features, that I think a lot of people would be happy to buy from you, considering the incredible amount of useful things you can do with Midiox (as it is today!). Well ...it's a suggestion.... Thank you for such a nice and useful program!. Gonzalo Gutiérrez Uruguay |

Title: Re: Two suggestions, easy and not so easy... Post by Jamie OConnell on Apr 29th, 2002, 11:43am The Loop request is already in the list, but I'll add another vote for it. ;) Becoming a MIDI Plug-in host is quite a bit of work, but it is not beyond the realm of possibility. There are no license fees or patents associated with the MFX technology: Cakewalk has made this a free, open standard. I have thought about this in the past, but hadn't done anything with it, because the plug-in's could only be used in real-time, and not all MFX plug-ins can be used in real-time. I'll add this request to the list :P |
