Title: Keyboard Slider Bank Clone Post by abhunkin on Aug 31st, 2005, 8:19pm I could really use an 8-controller slider bank clone incorporated into Keyboard Mapping. I see it working this way: Designate shift-lock 2 through 9 and F2 through F9 as controllers 20-27 (or 40-47 - any contiguous 8-controller grouping would work for my purposes) defaulting to values of 0. Each press of F2 through F9 increments the value of that controller by one; pressing 2 through 9 decrements the relevent controller by one. Or it might be even handier to have a single set of 8 keys (shift-locked?) with CTRL for increment, ALT for decrement - or some such. Maybe with the numeric keypad? Recently I needed all controller increments from 0 to 127 (single controller). To use keyboard mapping without separate NoteOn and NoteOff values, I redid KEYBOARD.INI to use all available keys, in left to right order in ascending rows. I also used all the Function (octave) keys to get seven more sets of (converted note) values from the top (numeric) row - in total, 127 out of the 128 values I needed. (I added a NoteOff value to the final key to get that last value.) All the time I kept thinking, wouldn't it be great if I could do this just by tapping on a single key - and for more than one controller? So, the above feature request was born. Title: Re: Keyboard Slider Bank Clone Post by Jamie OConnell on Sep 1st, 2005, 10:27am Have you tried operating the MIDI Status Window? clicking in any cell brings up a slider for that controller and channel. |

Title: Re: Keyboard Slider Bank Clone Post by abhunkin on Sep 1st, 2005, 4:45pm Jamie, Of course, the MIDI Status Window was just what I needed - and more! MIDIOx is such a rich program, I'd never discovered that window. I wonder how many *other* features MIDIOx has that I haven't yet discovered. Thanks for pointing it out. BTW, is there any way to get the Page Up and Page Down keys in the MIDI status window to inc/dec by a number different from 16? Or is 16 the only "fixed amount" possible? Or is this something else I just have yet to discover? :-/ Art Hunkins abhunkin@uncg.edu |

Title: Re: Keyboard Slider Bank Clone Post by Jamie OConnell on Sep 2nd, 2005, 4:49pm I believe Page granularity is hard set to 16. It should get you into the neighborhood, after which you can use UP and DOWN arrows to get to the desired value. Of course you can also use [Home] and [End] to get really far, and I think [Insert] goes to the center of the slider. |

Title: Re: Keyboard Slider Bank Clone Post by abhunkin on Sep 3rd, 2005, 12:03am Now that I've explored the MIDI Status window more, and how the various keyboard keys work with it, I see how the combination of inc/dec by 1 and by 16 work very nicely together. It's particularly nice when you don't have to combine it with keyboard mapping - where keyboard function can rather get in the way of working with the keys in the status window. Again, nice work. There's a *lot* of power here. Art Hunkins abhunkin@uncg.edu |
