Desktop Restore

I have Desktop Restore installed, it has worked in the past.
 
today windows explorer crashed and when it came back all my icons were moved from where I had them, I clicked desktop restore and my profile "dkh"  and nothing happens I have saved this profile several times for any changes made to my desktop icons.
 
I have some ongoing processes I am currently working on so I really do not want to restart the computer, but I can if need be.

I'm not certain what you mean by "profile"?
 
It is possible to forcibly restart the Explorer process by use of the Task Manager.  On the  process tab, scroll down and select Windows Explorer. Right-click it and choose the option "Restart".  That will cause Desktop Restore to be reloaded.
