Can't Install MIDI Yoke (Win2000)

I've downloaded and unzipped the MIDI Yoke driver directly from your website. I did exactly the steps of the tutorial, but after selecting the OEMSETUP.INF in the "Browse"-dialog I get a "Can't install" - error message. I've also tried to install it via right clicking the OEMSETUP.INF file and selecting "install". Same error. Have you got any suggestions? Thank you in advance! Rhone Tyler PS.: If it works on my PC too I guess MIDI Yoke will be the best thing ever happend in the MIDI-, sequencer- and software synth-scene. Thanks for making it freeware!

For Windows 2000 you have to use the MIDI Yoke NT driver. Make sure you have a administrator priveleges on the target machine. You have to use the Add Hardware applet -- you can't install a hardware driver from a .INF using a right-click menu. If you are having trouble with the MIDI Yoke NT driver you can try the last resort experimental installer here: MYNTAuto.exe

Ok, the auto installer worked, sort of. It did load the driver into Lagacy Audio Devices, right under the Nemisys Gigasampler ports. But, no application can see any new MIDI ports. Any ideas? -NeoAlus

That's a bummer -- I hadn't heard of this occurence before. You did reboot right? For what it's worth, the Auto-installer does seem to work for Win NT 4.0

So I tried things a bit more, and this is one for the books.. Installing the normal way (add new hardware, etc) it prompts me for MYOKENT.DLL, so I had been pointing it at the directory where the INF is, and MYOKENT.DL_. Well, it seems when I decompressed the DL_ file and put the actual DLL into that folder, then install the normal way, it works. Don't ask me - I used the normal way without doing that decompression thing when I installed MIDI Yoke long ago. So, no telling who's bug this is, just some FYI I suppose. I had another problem though, see the thread on long program load times... -NeoAlus

Thanks for the info. Be sure to remove any uncompressed MYOKENT.DLL from any directory other than the System32 folder, or it might get loaded by an application instead of the driver in the System32 folder (that's why it's supplied compressed with a different name). See my response about thread priorities, and check out this FAQ: MIDI Yoke Thread Priorities
