I cannot remove Midi-Yoke. After uninstalling Midi-Ox.

I have attempted to remove per the instructions found on the iuninstall from 2000 page.

I have attempted to remove from the device manager.

The message: Failed to uninstall device. The device may be required to boot up the computer.

Guidence Please.

MIDI Yoke is certainly not required to boot up your computer. At which step of the pictorial instructions did it fail? MIDI Yoke 2K Removal

Make sure you have administrative privileges and that MIDI Yoke is not selected as the default MIDI device in Control Panel | Sounds and Multimedia.

Another way to de-install is to use Control Panel | Sounds and Multimedia [Hardware] Tab.  Choose MIDI Yoke NT, choose Properties, choose [Driver] Tab, choose [Uninstall].
Try rebooting and see if it was de-installed despite the message.

Thank you for your response.

It fails at the end of the process: for both the add/remove hardware wizard and using driver uninstall.

I only log on as administrator.

I disabled the device in the device manager; same result.

And rebooted. Same result.

And tried to remove the driver in safe mode.

I will check about it being the default MIDI device.

So it fails at step 6 ( and you get a different dialog)?
Quote:

Same result as what?

Make sure you have Control Panel | System [Hardware] Tab [Driver Signing] set to (.) Ignore or (.) Warn.  If it is set to (.) Block you may not be able to un-install as well as install unsigned drivers.

If you are able to Disable the device it is as good as uninstalling.

MIDI Yoke itself is not involved in the un-install process. I have never heard of Win 2000 unable to uninstall drivers --
It sounds like you might have some registry corruption.

If you still want to get it un-installed, you could try downloading the latest update: MIDI Yoke and use Update Driver:
Control Panel | Sounds and Multimedia [Hardware] Tab.  Choose MIDI Yoke NT, choose Properties, choose [Driver] Tab, choose [Update Driver...].
If that is successful, then after Reboot, you could again try un-installing.

I have the same problem as JM but on XP. It simply wont uninstall. I get the same message as JM about that it might be needed to boot.

The reason for unistalling is that logic audio keeps crashing as soon as i press play ever since I installed midi-yoke.

I've made sure I have administrator priviligies, am able to install/ub-install unsigned drivers, that midi yoke is not my default midi-device and tried rebooting.

Any ideas?

You could try to DISABLE the driver, reboot, and then delete myokent.dll from the System32 folder.

For help on Logic with MIDI Yoke see:

and this thread:

hi

I'm chasing this same Error message....and then I happened to  arrive here... (I've been a member for a while)

Anyway, this error about un-installing "device" is not uncommon...and is not a Midi_OX initiated error, IMHO.

My computer has this error appear two times

One for Direct Paralllel
One for Unknown device.

Someone else had this same error for a USB Camera...

Just my two Cents for now...

I can't uninstall midiyoke on xp. You can't delete the dll file in system32. There is no midiyoke in control panel-hardware to uninstall.

It's no longer found, as I changed the registry. You should put a readme on the main page as how it's not removable!

It's not removable at first because Windows XP has it loaded!  After you remove it from registry and reboot, you will be able to delete it.
