EMU Patchmix DSP MIDI control

Hi everyone, I don't know if this is possible but I really hope so and it involves midi so I'm asking the midi-ox experts!

I have a laptop and EMU 1616 with the Patchmix DSP software, also running ableton 7.

What I want to do is control the zero latency DSP effects within Patchmix DSP using my behringer FCB1010 midi footpedal, simple stuff like enabling a distortion effect on an input that I have a bass connected to. I asked EMU about this and they have no plans to implement midi control of patchmix DSP. the only way to change things within patchmix dsp (such as enabling the FX) is with the mouse in windows.

Is it possible to use midi-ox or any other midi software to control windows? I'm imagining something like a macro in excel, where you would press a certain key combination to execute a pre-defined function. For me this would be pressing a button on the FCB1010 to send a midi cc message to midi-ox, which would convert this to 'click on the enable button on the distortion effect within patchmix dsp', for example. even better would be using the expression pedals to control sliders etc.

Any ideas?
