Title: HP-16C Emulator Post by Jamie OConnell on Aug 17th, 2004, 7:02pm This is not strictly a MIDI Utility, but might appeal to Programmers and Calculator fans. We have begun a public BETA for the HP16C Emulator (http://www.midiox.com/hp16c/index.htm) |

Title: Re: HP-16C Emulator Post by Jamie OConnell on Oct 31st, 2004, 5:03pm The Beta has been updated. The latest version will expire on 30-JAN-05. |

Title: Re: HP-16C Emulator Post by JimMusson on Nov 30th, 2004, 3:50pm It would be nice if I didn't have to turn the calculator on. |
||
Title: Re: HP-16C Emulator Post by Jamie OConnell on Dec 1st, 2004, 5:28pm Maybe that could be made an option ("Always On"). |
||
Title: Re: HP-16C Emulator Post by Jamie OConnell on Jan 9th, 2005, 4:53pm The Beta has been updated again. Expiration: 09-APR-05. I added an option to keep the Calculator turned on at all times. |

Title: Re: HP-16C Emulator Post by lapidarity on Mar 18th, 2005, 3:10pm Very nice calculator. I use it more often now than my own trusty HP :) I haven't found anything wrong with the calculator's functioning. A very minor glitch: when the "OCT" key is pressed, one line of pixels from the sqrt(x) symbol gets left behind. |

Title: Re: HP-16C Emulator Post by Jamie OConnell on Mar 28th, 2005, 12:30am Eagle eye. Good catch. I'll see if I can do something about that. Thanks. |
||
Title: Re: HP-16C Emulator Post by JimMusson on Mar 28th, 2005, 8:34am The Plus, Minus, Multiply (*) and Divide (/) keys do not work on the main part of the keyboard. This is particularly bothersome when using my laptop which does not have a numeric keypad. |
||
Title: Re: HP-16C Emulator Post by Jamie OConnell on Mar 28th, 2005, 5:47pm I'll see what I can do. It seems that it would it be preferable to obey these keys as if they were shifted (when possible). In other words, the "+/=" key would act as "+" whether shifted or not, because the "=" key has no meaning for the 16C. OTOH, the "*/8" key would need to be shifted to get the "*". Perhaps the Ideal solution would be a user configurable mapping of keys, with appropriate defaults in place. I can't promise this for the initial release, however. Thanks for voicing the annoyance! |

Title: Re: HP-16C Emulator Post by JimMusson on Mar 28th, 2005, 5:49pm I really don't mind having to use the shift key. |

Title: Re: HP-16C Emulator Post by Jamie OConnell on Apr 4th, 2005, 12:11am A new BETA has been released. It fixes the Bitmap issue, and adds Keyboard support for: *, +, /, -, . on the main keyboard. |

Title: Re: HP-16C Emulator Post by Shalkey on Apr 15th, 2005, 10:08am Wow! Most impressive. I actually have a 16C, but it's back home in VA, along with its instruction manual....so I don't know how to clear the overflow ("G") flag! Where's the "always on" option? |
||
Title: Re: HP-16C Emulator Post by Jamie OConnell on Apr 19th, 2005, 2:03pm To get "Always On", right click on the calculator. There's a condensed mini-manual installed with the calculator. To bring it up, press F1 when the calculator is running. To clear overflow you clear flag 5: [SF], [CF] Set flag, Clear flag. Sets or clears the flag number entered (0 to 5). HP16C Flags: 0 User Flag (used to control programming) 1 User Flag (used to control programming) 2 User Flag (used to control programming) 3 Controls whether leading 0’s are displayed 4 Carry or borrow Flag (Appears as C in the number display) 5 Out of Range Flag (Appears as G in the number display) |

Title: Re: HP-16C Emulator Post by Shalkey on Apr 25th, 2005, 12:10pm Tx for the reply. I right-clicked on ON soon after posting and saw the options, but they don't work on my Win 2000 box--selecting things like View Stack or Always On do nothing. |

Title: Re: HP-16C Emulator Post by Jamie OConnell on Apr 25th, 2005, 12:25pm Thanks for the report -- I'll investigate. [Later... Yes, that appears to be a bug. Work-around: Instead of right-clicking on [ON] (or any other button), right-click on the White-Silver background of the calculator in the upper right 3rd of the window.] |
