Praying for help

Hello,

This is my first post and I'm at my wits' end!!!!

I am completely new to midiox, but was told this program could help me with my midi problem. Only now, I"m more confused than ever.

Long story long, I started up my music software (Sonar 1) yesterday and it wouldn't work correctly. I can't assign a midi track to a channel and instrument. And although I can play my keyboard controller live, it won't play or assign my older midi files (Cakewalk support, incidentally, isn't being very supportive.)

So, thinking that maybe my old, old midi interface could be the problem, I bought a newer one (Emagic MT4) today. Only I still have the same problem.

I downloaded MidiOx only to find a long, continuing stream of midi events kicking through the input and output monitors...without even touching a key on my controller. In fact, my controller quickly tells me my Midi buffer is full!

I'm at a complete loss...if there's anyone who can steer me in the right direction, I promise I won't jump out my window!!!  Shocked

Regards,
Bob

What event type is streaming through MIDI-OX?  If it's 'Active Sensing', then there's nothing to worry about: You can filter it out of the display using Options | MIDI Filter....  Look under Real Time and select Active Sensing.

If it's something else, you can capture some of it and post it here using either Logging or Copy and Paste from the Windows Clipboard.

Hi Jamie,

Apologies for being a complete idiot about this...But I'm not sure if it's Active Sensing or not. Under Real Time, I'm assigning only Active Sensing, but I'm still getting a never-ending stream of events through the program..

Here is just a small sample of what's streaming thru:

Cakewalk has told me I may need to update my sound card driver, which I intend to do...

But if anyone could give me an idea of what event type is streaming through MIDI-OX (in the post above)  - of if that's normal - that would be great!

Bob

The message you're seeing is a Controller Event (controller #123 decimal), on channel 1, which means ALL NOTES OFF.  It will stop all notes sounding on most MIDI devices.

You could filter it out in the Control Change section of the filter.  You can either filter out the display of it or both filter out the display and remove the event, by choosing "[x] Filter out Data as well as Display".
