Title: Sysex timestamps
Post by LM on Feb 11th, 2003, 10:41pm
Could someone please give an example of how to specify the timestamps when generating sysex commands by manually entering them into the command window? Entering the sysex commands is not a problem but we are unsure where/how to add timestamps so that each message is sent at a specific point in time rather than all at once immediately after clicking "send sysex"....

Thanks.

SysEx messages in MIDI-OX do not support being sent at an absolute time. In general, SysEx timing in Windows is not critical because the data does not represent musical events. Windows sends SysEx messages in arbitrary sized buffers usually containing several hundred bytes of data.

MIDI-OX supports a releative delay between buffers and/or a delay between SysEx messages. This is sufficient to separate messages, in time, for all known gear. You can configure these delays in SysEx View: SysEx | Configure.... If you need more exacting time stamps, you will need to encode the SysEx into a MIDI file and then play it through a sequenmcer or player.
