Title: Loading SysEx on Startup
Post by arvdc on Sep 18th, 2021, 12:26am
Hi there,

I just learned how to load, edit, and send SysEx codes to and from my MIDI controller.

I specifically used MIDI-OX to operate the LEDs on my LaunchPad. Everything works just how I want it to, but I found that every time I reboot my laptop I would have to resend the SysEx file to my controller.

Is there a way to do this such that the previously loaded SysEx file is always stored in the controller?

Thanks in advance for all the help.

HI
Perhaps this is a possible limitation of your controller.

You don't say what the controller is.
Perhaps you have to send the sysex, which loads the settings into the buffer (volatile memory that is erased when you shut the controller down), then save it to non-volatile memory inside the controller?

Post again if you can't find out how it works.

All the best
Royce

Ah, I see. My controller is a Launchpad Mk2 - the manual doesn't really say anything about it. Would you know of a way to do it?

Sorry to disappoint you but you can't save the sysex settings in the Mark 1 or Mark 2 LaunchPad.
The LaunchPad is a pretty simple device and you are supposed to send the sysex as needed.

I was a bit disappointed too with my two Mark 1 LaunchPads.
If you are always starting up your DAW, you might be able to put the sysex into your default song so it is sent when starting the DAW.

All the best
