Desktop Restore

Desktop Restore - Works great except for 4 weeks in a row now, after I come back from a weekend off, half of the desktop items are gone!  By items, I mean shortcuts or files have disappeared from the desktop folder under my user folder  (not just appearance, they are gone when vierwing the folder in Windows explorer) Any ideas??

Is it possible you have MS Windows Cleanup run automatically in your absence?  That is all I can think of... I am pretty sure Desktop Restore cannot delete icons.
