Install DR 1.7 directly over 1.6.3

I'm running an old version: 1.6.3.  
I do have the data file: ...ApplicationData\DesktopSaveRestore\*.dtr  
 
Can I install 1.7 directly?
Will the existing .dtr files work with the latest version?  
I have a 64-bit machine.  
 
Downloading only includes an .exe so there are no release notes.

A partial answer to my own question: 1.7 can be installed directly over 1.6.3 in win 10. I had no problems installing or using it.
 
You DO need to restart to refresh the settings in the registry.

The .exe contains the installer and also places a "read me" (DR Readme.rtf) in the installed folder. Typically: "C:\Program Files\Desktop Restore\DR Readme.rtf".
