cool edit pro2 sync problem

Hi all...Midiox was recommended to me by the fine folks at syntiliium! (as a possible solution to my problem) So...Cool edit pro2 (new multitrack version) will slave to Smpte (or mtc) which seem according to some to be the same thing!!?? I have an old sequencer and 2adats which sync nicely thanks to the J.L. Cooper pps1 which creates smart fsk (or midi clock and song position pointer) which are the same (I think)!! The pps1 has 2 midi outs so 1 goes to the sequencer and the other to the computer (PC!) I can use Audio logic or cubase in sync (they read midi clock) this way no problem (so I have 3 units at my command ) BUT!!......I don't like them!! I want to sync Coolpro2 instead. Question: Can the midiox or midi yoke read the incoming time code? Yes! But can it convert it to mtc (or smpte) that I can route to coolpro2Huh I tried running audio logic first as a go between as it says it sends mtc , and sending that thru the yoke to coolpro! No go! Does the yoke simply re route the original midiclock and send that to the other applicationHuh?  If coolpro2 could read the midi clock in the first place I'd be a happy guy! Any way to shed some light on how to solve this would be a joy!!  Thanks so much..John

SMPTE and MTC are related, but very different: SMPTE is continuous audio tones used to syncronize devices.  Certain hardware can convert SMPTE to MTC (MIDI Time Code) to place this sync information into the MIDI stream.  It is an absolute time based system where the continuous messages actually encode the time.

MIDI Clock sync, on the other hand is a Tempo based system where the rate of MIDI clocks (F8) passing through the system determine the tempo of the piece.   FSK is an audio tone that encodes MIDI Clock Sync

It would be very difficult to reliably convert between one system and the other, and MIDI-OX doesn't even attempt it.
