Is there any hope that the custom port names not "sticking" might get fixed? It is an enormously useful function, and there are still a lot of people out there relying on MIDI-Ox Thanks

Sorry, but I'm not sure what problem you are talking about. I don't understand about port name "sticking" You change the port name, I always choose 3 letter names so the complete alias port name is always visible, and it remains attached to that Midi port.

After applying the Custom Port Names, the custom names don't show. So then CLOSE the MIDI-Port-Window via the X in the red square. Then open the PortView window again via view/PorRoutings. Then close MIDIox and open it again. The custom port names should show up. It works for me in Windows-7 Pro 64. MIDI-Ox, though, is a 32 bit sfotwares and should be installed, first of all, as such.

What are you talking about, when you don't know what version of Windows-7 I am using, ForestCat? Did you install both MidiYoke and MIDI-Ox as "Administrator" and chose that they work in 32 bit mode, compatible with XP? You can and should do that for MIDI-Yoke/MIDI-Ox Then do as I suggested when setting Custom Port Names. It works for me: Windows-7 64 bit.
